Overview

Windsor is a very small town located in the state of Vermont. With a population of 3,559 people and just one neighborhood, Windsor is the 59th largest community in Vermont. Much of the housing stock in Windsor was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Windsor is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Windsor is a town of professionals, service providers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Windsor who work in healthcare (12.26%), maintenance occupations (12.21%), and office and administrative support (9.29%).

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 7.69% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Residents will find that the town is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Windsor is worth considering.

As is often the case in a small town, Windsor doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
