Carver is a medium-sized town located in the state of Massachusetts. With a population of 11,675 people and two associated neighborhoods, Carver is the 168th largest community in Massachusetts.Unlike some towns, Carver isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Carver are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Carver is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Carver who work in management occupations (16.42%), office and administrative support (10.08%), and sales jobs (10.06%). Of important note, Carver is also a town of artists. Carver has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Carver’s character. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 11.97% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes. Because of many things, Carver is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Carver a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Carver has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Carver’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country. It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Carver has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Carver has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Carver than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Carver may be for you. In Carver, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 32.03 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average. The percentage of people in Carver who are college-educated is somewhat higher than the average US community of 21.84%: 27.24% of adults in Carver have at least a bachelor's degree. The per capita income in Carver in 2022 was $47,112, which is lower middle income relative to Massachusetts, and wealthy relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $188,448 for a family of four. However, Carver contains both very wealthy and poor people as well. Carver is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town.
