Venice is a medium-sized coastal city (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 28,150 people and 24 associated neighborhoods, Venice is the 126th largest community in Florida.Venice is a decidedly white-collar city, with fully 86.50% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Venice is a city of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Venice who work in office and administrative support (13.56%), management occupations (12.09%), and sales jobs (11.21%). Of important note, Venice is also a city of artists. Venice has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Venice’s character. Also of interest is that Venice has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 23.94% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes. Venice is also nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities. The citizens of Venice are among the most well-educated in the nation: 44.27% of adults in Venice have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree, whereas the average US city has 21.84% holding at least a bachelor's degree. The per capita income in Venice in 2022 was $74,510, which is wealthy relative to Florida and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $298,040 for a family of four. However, Venice contains both very wealthy and poor people as well. Venice is a somewhat ethnically-diverse city. The people who call Venice home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Venice residents report their race to be White, followed by Asian. Important ancestries of people in Venice include German, Irish, Italian, English, and Polish. The most common language spoken in Venice is English.
