Navarre profile

Living in Navarre

Navarre is a medium-sized coastal town (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 40,817 people and eight associated neighborhoods, Navarre is the 85th largest community in Florida. Navarre has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Navarre, where the median household income is $97,376.00.

There are many members of the armed forces living in Navarre. You will notice when you visit or live here that some of the people you meet or see around town are employed by the armed services - even if they are not always in uniform.

Also of interest is that Navarre has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

A relatively large number of people in Navarre telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 11.30% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Because of many things, Navarre is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Navarre a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Navarre has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Navarre’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

One of the nice things about Navarre is that it is nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities.

In Navarre, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 33.79 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.

Navarre is a decent-sized town, yet no one gets to work using public transit, because the town has no real transit system.

The overall education level of Navarre citizens is substantially higher than the typical US community, as 31.15% of adults in Navarre have at least a bachelor's degree, and the average American community has 21.84%.

The per capita income in Navarre in 2022 was $40,018, which is upper middle income relative to Florida and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $160,072 for a family of four. However, Navarre contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
