With 9,704 people, 3,462 houses or apartments, and a median cost of homes of $405,646, real estate costs in Burlington are among some of the highest in the nation, although house prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive Connecticut communities.

Single-family detached homes are the single most common housing type in Burlington, accounting for 91.87% of the town's housing units. Other types of housing that are prevalent in Burlington include duplexes, homes converted to apartments or other small apartment buildings ( 2.77%), large apartment complexes or high rise apartments ( 2.58%), and a few row houses and other attached homes ( 2.58%).
